...and more!
How many sessions will I need?
With consistency, you can expect to see significant strides within the first few sessions! While we wish we could predict how long it will take to achieve your training objectives, each dog learns at a different pace. Many things impact the speed in which dogs learn. For example:
- Breed
- Age
- Temperament, including habitual inclinations, emotional responses and sensibility
- Motivators
- Early development and socialisation
- Past experiences and reinforcements
- Current level of obedience
- Dog/owner relationship
- Physical and mental outlets
- Structure in the home
- Injuries, impairments or illnesses
- Desexing,
- etc.
Unequivocally, adhering to your trainer’s training plan is critical to your dog’s success. The homework we assign provides you the opportunity to apply all that you will have learned during your sessions and will strengthen the primary skill we aim to teach all our clients: clear communication.
Can I train multiple dogs at once?
Of course! So long as all pets are included in the initial consultation, we can train multiple dogs at once. We recommend our 60 min private training option so we have enough time to work with all dogs during your session.
How early should I enrol my puppy in training?
The earlier the better! Early beginnings allow you to get ahead of unwanted behaviours and will give you the tools to effectively communicate with your dog throughout their teenage and adulthood. We offer private training to dogs as young as 5 months of age. Puppies younger than 5 months may wish to register to our Proactive Puppy Program.
How do we enrol our dog in private training?
To get started with ILK9, you must register to the waitlist! We will be in touch at a future date to provide you with our intake form, connect you with your trainer and schedule your consultation! Our consultation includes reviewing your Pet Profile, concerns, goals and objectives. We will work with you to develop a training strategy and will provide you homework to prepare for your first session.
Can anyone attend group class?
No. At this time, group classes are limited to ILK9 clients who have graduated private training and are deemed eligible to participate in our group classes.
Currently enrolled in private training? Ask your trainer for more information!
How much are your pet services?
Our prices are listed in our Pet Services page.
Where are you located? Where do you provide training?
ILK9 provides in-home and outdoor training services in the National Capital Region. When working outdoors, we meet clients at nearby public parks (where dogs are allowed on or off leash, of course) to train!
Canine consulting services and seminars may be provided internationally. Please contact us to discuss your operational and training requirements.
How soon do we start private training after registering to the waitlist?
It takes approximately 3-4 months to begin private training after registering to the waitlist. Please note that we're working hard to reduce wait times for our clients!
How frequent are private training sessions?
There is no set schedule. Your trainer will meet with you when you are ready for the next session. When starting, we recommend scheduling weekly or bi-weekly sessions. The more we progress in training, the more time is needed between sessions!
The waitlist appears to be closed. When will it re-open?
If the waitlist is closed, we are currently in the process of working through our client list to ensure we provide timely training to future clients! Subscribe to our emails to be notified when we re-open the waitlist!
How do we request canine consulting services or seminars?
Please contact us to request Canine Consulting Services. Josh Rowlands, founder of In-Line K9, will be in touch with your organization to schedule a consultation to discuss your operational requirements.
